When shopping in Lincoln, the High Street is a good place to start, and stores here are especially attractive, with 'olde worlde' facades and endless character, as well as familiar brands and chain stores, such as HMV and Marks and Spencer. The cobblestone streets of the Cathedral Quarter are also popular, as are the Bailgate, Eastgate and Steep Hill areas of the city, which also known for their shopping opportunities and home to traditional Victorian-style sweet shops selling nostalgic confectionary.

Where to Shop

On the High Street, in central Lincoln, the Waterside shopping centre is easy to find and stands between the High Bridge spanning the River Witham, and the Stonebow. There are more than 30 outlets within this mall, including branches of Adams, the Body Shop, the Early Learning Centre, La Senza, Oasis, Primark and Top Shop.

Situated on St. Mark's Square, the St. Mark's Shopping Centre is a giant complex, with flagship stores including both BHS and Debenhams. There are also plenty of fast-food outlets here, should you need to take a break and put down your heavy carrier bags. Lincoln's up-and-coming Lindongate development should provide further shopping and department stores, as well as hotels, restaurants and transportation facilities, and is due to be completed by 2012.
